Just like laps on a track, weeks are important to many runners. This arbitrary period of time is used to measure immediately how we think our training has progressed. Recently mine has been lacking, I'd been off in the wilderness of life and not on the training tracks, but now... things are changing.

Last week was comprised of random good and bad days... just my body readjusting to the demands of physical training. One run was great, then 3 days of disaster and fatigue. My mind checking out of what it knew it needed to do. But, I got out there and went through that requisite experience.

After that series of train wreck runs, this week has been amazingly good, as in 3 solid days in a row- wherein my legs felt "normal" and my brain was not checking the watch every 2 minutes to see if I was done yet! Now that I am on the rails again, I know I can begin asking a bit more of myself a few days a week. Life can be a bit worrisome when we wonder when we will wun... run well again. I am pleased that I have reached the beginning of the happy place again in 2011.

That said, today is a rest segment... and the good news is that I wish I could run today. I suppose it is time to bump it up again this next week, seeing as I am not dragging myself across the floor. Time to get back to feeling worn out. Another progression awaits!

Happy running!

  1. Glad your back on 'track!' I would do a double back flip if one of my training runs could match one of your 'train wreck' run!

  2. Great to hear you have things on track!

One little unsolicited bit of advice: looking at your schedule, it might pay to cycle your days a bit more. For instance, bump up the mileage on one day, take it back a little the next. You have a pretty straight line going across there mileage wise.

  3. I like graphs that have huge peaks and valleys. I'm really into the economy right now because of it.

  4. I feel like I'm going through the same thing. Only about 3 to 4 minutes per mile slower. Either way, you're moving forward and that's a good thing!

  5. it is tough to get back into the groove of running...doing a great job of it though. nice!

  6. NICE!! Glad to see that your running is "back on track". Unfortunately, I'd like to say that it gets easier when the kiddo gets older, but it really doesn't :(
